‘Exempt sales and service of farm equipment from lockdown’

Farm machinery makers are trying to get exemption from the lockdown to operate their gross sales and services centres to cater to the farmers’ prerequisite in the course of the rabi harvest season.

Crops such as wheat and gram are prepared for harvest throughout major sections of North India.

The Centre has exempted farm inputs such as fertilisers, seeds and pesticides from lockdown. While the inter- and intra-Point out movement of farm machinery such as brings together and harvesters, the implementation of the get is bad on the floor. “We are urging the Govt to take into consideration positioning farm machinery in the exempt category and make it possible for operations of gross sales and services centres,” stated Shenu Agarwal, CEO of Escorts’ Farm Equipment business.

Farmers would need the have to have of services centres to get their tractors and other gear fixed ahead of the harvest season. Any gear obtained two years back demands some fix or services. Moveover, gear such as threshers, which are applied only in the course of the harvest season, demands servicing right before they could be put to use. Also, some farmers would like to get some new gear or spares to have our their harvest and the subsequent sowing operations, Agarwal stated.

While States such as Haryana and Bihar have exempted farm machinery from lockdown, issues are unique on the floor. As a final result, persons are not allowed to operate their gross sales and services centres. “We are seeking to ask for the neighborhood authorities in these States to make it possible for the sale and services of farm gear,” Agarwal stated.
